Ethiopian Airlines has taken off about 162 people trapped in the city of Adan Adde after being stopped by most of the world, due to Coronavirus. These are Somali-American, Canadian and British who have been isolated in the Somali capital in recent weeks.

The US embassy, who had originally arranged the flight, wanted to bring its citizens to the United States, but was joined by both Canada and UK. Ethiopian Airlines flew from Mogadishu at 4 pm to Addis Ababa and then flew to London, Washington DC, and Toronto. Although the travel and connection works were handled by the US Embassy, these people were reportedly booked from Ethiopian Airlines.

Some of them told Somali Times that Ethiopian Airlines has charged fares more money than regular fares, taking advantage of the circumstances. This is why some of the people in Mogadishu have decided to stay, refusing to pay the expensive fare.
