Mogadishu-Somali Times President of Eritrean Republic, Asias Afwerki has on Thursday arrived in the Somali capital, Mogadishu for a historic visit after receiving an official invitation from President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed,
President Mohamed and other Government officials welcomed Mr. Afwerki and his delegation at Mogadishu International Airport.
“It is a great honour to welcome President Asias Afwerki to Mogadishu today on this historic visit. Somalia and Eritrea have a historic bond of friendship which we will transform into modern opportunities for our two brotherly peoples”, President Mohamed said.
Eritrean Minister for Information, Yemane Maskel said on his twitter that President Isias’s historic visit is part and parcel of the consultative tripartite summits of the Heads of State and Governments of Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia.
The two leaders are in talks on enhancing ties, cooperation between the two states and regional stability. President Afwerki’s visit will last two days according to the Presidency.
