The Deputy Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union, Nebiyu Tedla, spoke about a recent statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, regarding Somalia’s support for the Ethiopian Opposition.
In a post posted on his social media, Nebiyu Tedla described the statement of Minister Fiqi as a joke and accused him of prioritizing the interests of his tribe before the development of the nation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, said that Somalia will make contact with the rebels against Ethiopia if Ethiopia continues the agreement it made with Hargeisa administration.
Nebiyu Tedla said in his writing, “It is ridiculous to see members of Al-Shabab pretending to be government officials, who are not able to work efficiently outside of Banadir.”
The diplomatic crisis between Ethiopia and Somalia may affect diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis between the two countries.
Already, the angry statements between the two countries in the press are thought to be the reason for the cancellation of the third negotiation that was expected to be held in Ankara on September 17. The Turkish government, which is the mediator in this dialogue, has not released any information about the cancellation of the meeting.
