Farmajo summons army commanders

The President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, met with the Governor of Benadir Region, Commanders of the Armed Forces, Police, Security Services and instructed them to strengthen the security of the country.

According to a statement from Villa Somalia, Farmajo listened to reports from the Somali Police and Intelligence Command about preliminary investigations into “last week’s terrorist attacks in Mogadishu and Beledweyne.”




However, the results of these preliminary investigations have not been released.

According to the statement, Farmajo highlighted the importance of the army increasing its operations and vigilance, as the country enters an election season and we are approaching the holy month of Ramadan which in recent years the government has succeeded in preventing and reducing plots terrorists plotted this month.

”We are at war with a ruthless enemy that threatens our security and our very existence. The Al-Shabab terrorists we are fighting are working to massacre the Somali people, wherever they can get an opportunity, so we must always be on high alert, and work closely with our people who support you with intelligence,” said Farmajo.

Farmajo instructed the Commanders of the Armed Forces to reassure the Somali people during security operations, as well as to strengthen cooperation and integration between the security agencies and the community, in order to enhance public co-operation and trust.
