Finland’s foreign minister came to Mogadishu




A delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Pekka Haavisto, arrived in Mogadishu today, and the delegation was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Abshir Omar Haruse, at Aden Adde airport.

After the reception, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Abshir Omar Haruse, gave his Finnish counterpart a report on the general situation in the country and the stabilization efforts and operations against the Al-Shabab group in the country.

“In our preliminary discussions, I praised the role of the Finnish government in building peace, stability and hosting many Somali citizens. Finland has already been in the country, and they have an embassy there.

There are many projects that they can help us with and work on. It is very important for this delegation, that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Finland visits Somalia, that will strengthen the cooperation between us,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Abshir Omar Haruse.

The delegation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland will also meet the shady President of the Federal Government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and other officials.

Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, since the re-election of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, has been hosting international delegations who have been visiting Mogadishu in various ways.
