Former Somali deputy prime minister arrested in Hargeisa




Former Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mohamed Omar Carte Qalib has been arrested at Egal Airport in Hargeisa after being seized with a Somali diplomatic passport, an unnamed official told the media.

Carte returned to Hargeisa last year and resigned as a member of parliament from the Somali government, after his father, Omar Carte Qalib, fell ill in Hargeisa.




His return came after Hargeisa President Muse Bihi Abdi pardoned him, after he sent a letter of apology to the Hargeisa government, reportedly abandoning the idea of ​​’Greater Somalia’, and flew straight from Egal Airport. 25, October, 2020.
