In a meeting between the Germany Ambassador to Uganda HE Dr Albrecht Conze and Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs Hon Adolf Mwesige, Dr. Conze applauded the continued role of the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) in the stabilization process in the war-torn infested country of Somalia.
He (Dr. Conze) said that Germany will continue to provide more assistance to the various UPDF missions especially in capacity building through increased training. He also announced that the UPDF should send a Senior Officer for training in Germany. On his part, Hon Mwesige commended the continued support and good bilateral relationship between the two countries. He informed his guests that the Ministry is constructing a military referral hospital which upon completion will enable its officers to seek specialized treatment within the country instead of flying abroad.
He added that the hospital will be a good opportunity for the army to reduce on medical expenses especially abroad but notified his guests that they need to train more UPDF doctors who will manage the medical facilities. The two leaders also discussed several matters patterning security, tourism and military training.
The meeting was attended by a German Lt Col Joern Fiedler,the Defense Attaché accredited to Uganda, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Mrs Rossette Byengoma ,the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu among others
