Kismayo-Fighting between Jubaland forces and forces allied to former Jubaland government spokesman Abdinasir Serar broke out in Kismayo Wednesday. Sources told Somali Times that the two sides clashed following an altercation as supporters allied to Serar attempted to hold a protest against the Jubbaland administration. There was no immediate information on the casualties. The fighting came amid a meeting between Jubbaland president Ahmed Madobe and U.S ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto.

The situation in the coastal city remains tense. Serar, a former comrade of Madobe in the Ras Kamboni brigade fell out after serving as the state spokesman. He presented himself as a candidate in the September 2019 Jubbaland presidential elections.
