Outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and a delegation led by him arrived in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, last night, where they began a two-day visit. Farmajo and his delegation were welcomed at N’djili International Airport by officials, according to a statement from Villa Somalia.

The presidency also said the president’s visit was aimed at boosting diplomatic co-operation between the two countries and at the continental level in the areas of security, economy, poverty eradication and extremism. During their stay in Congo, the diplomats will hold talks with their Congolese counterparts and other African Union officials.

This is Farmajo’s first trip to leave the country since his term ended on February 8th and a week after two years.
