The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, met with the National Commission for the control of COVID-19 and the Civil Society to hear a report on the health and economic implications of the resurgence of the epidemic.
The Minister of Health of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr Fawzia Abikar Nur, presented the President with a comprehensive report on the increase in the number of Somali citizens affected by the disease and the alarming death toll, and stressed the need for the public to be vigilant and aware of the risk.
The president praised the government’s efforts to ensure the health of the people, noting that effective measures have been taken to control the disease, the people and the country.
“The community is at the heart of the government’s efforts to prevent the spread of the disease, so we must stand up for public awareness and adhere to health messages and plans to prevent it.”
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo praised the health, economic and security plans presented by the National Commission for the control of COVID-19, and urged Somali businesses to throw their people into this difficult time.
