President Farmajo welcomes PM Khaire’s dismissal

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo has accepted the decision of the House of the People to withdraw its confidence in the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The President said that the unity of the Constitutional Institutions of the Federal Government of Somalia, especially at the current stage of the country, but fulfilling its constitutional mandate, taking into account the Constitutional Powers of the House of the People, accepted the decision of the House of the People. The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo, has received a vote of no confidence in the Government of Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.



The President saw the importance of the unity of the Constitutional Institutions of the Federal Government of Somalia, especially at this stage, but in carrying out his constitutional duties, taking into account the Constitutional powers of the House of the People, accepted the decision of the House of the People.

“The rift between the government and the legislature is undermining the progress that has been made, and to that end I have decided to consider the voice of the House of the People as the foundation of our nationhood.”

President Farmajo will immediately appoint a Prime Minister who will form a government that will take the country out of this transitional period and strengthen social services in the country. The President of the Republic would like to thank Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire for his hard work during his tenure and for his good cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
