Several injured in knife attack at Gare du Nord train station in Paris

A suspect wielding a knife who injured several people at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris on Wednesday has been neutralized, the interior minister confirmed.

“An individual injured several people this morning at the Gare du Nord. He was quickly neutralized,” Gerald Darmanin said on Twitter.




He thanked the police for their “effective and courageous response.”

According to the French broadcaster BFMTV, the suspect was a man, and the incident caused traffic disruptions around the transport hub.

Medical teams were also dispatched to the scene.​​​​​​​

The man’s motives were not immediately clear, police said. The Paris prosecutor said in a statement that a criminal investigation had been opened.
