The Coalition of Somali Civil Society Organizations, comprising of all State Governments and the Benadir Region, has opposed the appointment of the incumbent Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, following the loss of confidence. A statement from the Union of Somali Civil Society Organizations said the ousted Cabinet was not in a position to make appointments, and that its appointments were illegal, as they themselves had no legitimacy, but acting on behalf of the incoming government.

The statement also described as illegal as the Judicial Service Commission and the Somali Petroleum Authority, which were appointed by the outgoing Cabinet a few days ago. Somali civil society organizations have also called for the appointment of the Judicial Service Commission and the Somali Petroleum Authority to be left to the new government, as the current Cabinet is not legally binding.
