Somali embassy fails to protect its citizens in Tripoli

Libyan forces affiliated with the Department for the Protection of Diplomatic Missions have evacuated the Somali embassy in Tripoli after Somali citizens stormed the building and refused to leave, according to The Libya Observer reported.

The department said that in coordination with the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the charge d’affaires issued an official note permitting the forces to enter the embassy.

The Administration for the Protection of Diplomatic Missions and the department’s operations faction ordered the evacuation of the building located in the Al-Sarraj area. The security operation took 15 minutes to evacuate the building, and the intruders were arrested, the statement said.

According to the administration, the intruders were illegal immigrants and were referred to the relevant authority to undergo legal procedures.
