Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has called on the opposition in Mogadishu to ceasefire and move for urgent talks.

“I call for an urgent meeting to find a solution to the current crisis in Mogadishu. I command the role of civil society in finding a solution to this situation. I call on the public to be patient and calm. Let us maintain our peace and stability.”

Prime Minister Roble made the remarks during a meeting with civil society leaders in Mogadishu, who have gathered to discuss the conflict in Mogadishu.

The prime minister said he was saddened by the Sunday clashes in Mogadishu between government security forces and Kenya-UAE puppets opposition supporters.

Political tensions in Somalia escalated this month after President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo received a controversial extension from Somalia’s lower house of parliament earlier this month.
