Somalia announces restart of diplomatic relations with Kenya

The Federal Government of Somalia has announced the resumption of diplomatic relations with Kenya. Somali Deputy Minister of Information Abdirahman Yusuf Sheikh Al-Adala recently addressed the media and read out a statement from the Somali government.

”Joint communiqué on the resumption of diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya.”

The Federal Government of Somalia, while safeguarding the interests of good neighborliness, announces the resumption of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kenya.




The Government of the Republic of Kenya welcomes this move to safeguard the interests of good neighborliness between the two countries.

The two governments agreed to safeguard the friendly relations between the two countries based on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in bilateral internal affairs, equality, cooperation and peaceful co-existence.

The Presidents of the two countries thanked the Emir of Qatar for his efforts in this regard.
