Somalia, China discuss strengthening territorial integrity

Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdisaid Muse Ali spoke by telephone with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, discussing the strengthening of respect and protection of national sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity between the two governments.

According to a statement from the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers focused on strengthening historical ties and cooperation between Somalia and China, and how the two countries can cooperate in the areas of security, humanitarian, development, trade and economy, to realize the national aspirations of the two friendly peoples.




The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, thanked the Chinese government for its role in providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Somalia affected by the drought, and underlined Somalia’s commitment to advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between China.

The talks between the two foreign ministers come days after the Somali government dismissed Taiwan’s agreements with North Somalia.

The Somalia government has recognized Taiwan as a province of the People’s Republic of China, and has condemned its ties with North Somalia.

North Somalia they now call themselves Somaliland is a colony name of the British Empire when they colonised North Somalia.
