Somalia: Las Anod residents flee for their lives

The situation in the city of Las Anod in the Sool region is still uncertain, where violence has been going on for almost 10 days, after the murders of many civilians have become regular in the city.

According to Abdikarim Olol, a journalist from VOA Radio, and he is in Las Anod , while reporting on the situation in the city, he said that people have been evacuated from the city and people have settled outside the city.

He also said that Somaliland has a large number of military forces in the streets of the city, which has made it impossible for the people to continue the protests that have stopped in the last two days.

This reporter in Las Anod said that this crisis has affected the entire Sool region.

He said that the communication of the city is sometimes taken out of the air, as the money used in that region is only the voltage for the phones to be sent to each other.

Somaliland has completely cut off the Internet from the Sool region, and after a day of no communication, people were only allowed to talk and send money on the phones, which means that the internet has not worked in the Sool region until now.

Business in the city has closed, according to this reporter, and there are very few people to be seen in the city of Las Anod, as Somaliland military soldiers have entered every street.

The transport of some fleeing families is coming from other regions, which shows the extent of the displacement in Las Anod.
