Streatham incident: Man shot by armed police after several stabbed in south London terror attack

A man has been shot by armed officers in Streatham in an incident which has been declared terrorist-related, the Metropolitan Police have said. Officers were called to the incident outside a supermarket in Streatham on at around 2.30pm on Sunday. A spokesman for Lambeth MPS wrote on Twitter: “Officers are dealing with an incident in Streatham. “More updates to come, we will share information as we have it.”

Metropolitan Police has warned people to stay away from the area, tweeting: “Please avoid the area while the emergency services deal with the incident in Streatham.” A number of unconfirmed reports on social media suggested a man had been shot, with people saying they heard three gun shots fired. Witnesses also suggest two people were stabbed.

Metropolitan Police has been approached for more details. Around a dozen armed police are thought to be at the scene and witnesses said two people were being treated for injuries. Newcome Gardens is closed eastbound from A23 Streatham High Road to Pendennis Road.
