The European Union bans Somali citizens without international passports from applying for office jobs

The European Union has barred Somali nationals in the country applying for jobs, citing a foreign passport, With more than 40 vacancies in the offices of the European Union Mission in Somalia, local applicants are subject to conditions that prevent them from taking advantage of these jobs.

Documents obtained by the media indicate that these jobs are closed to EU citizens or holders of passports from countries, assisting in EU programs.

Thousands of Somalis without Western work-seeking passports are in Somalia, and this could increase the number of young people fleeing the country to obtain foreign passports.

It is not known why the EU operation barred Somali nationals without foreign passports from working in their offices.
