UK police arrested a 25-year-old Somali man on suspicion of killing a Conservative MP

Anti-terror police are leading an investigation into the knife attack that killed a Conservative MP in the UK, Sir David Amess. A 25-year-old British national of Somali origin was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to The Sun Newspaper reported.

Sir David, an MP from Southend West in Essex, was killed on Friday at the Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-On-Sea, and a British man of Somali origin was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Paramedics tried for two hours to rescue the 69-year-old, but he died of stab wounds, UK police have identified the killing of a Conservative MP as a terrorist act.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Sir David was one of the best, most politically correct people, while former Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May said his death was “disappointing”.
