Somalis in Eastleigh are vigilance and worries about the Kenya’s reaction

There has been an ongoing maritime border dispute between Somalia and Kenya, which is currently being held in the International Court of Justice. As a result, a Somali national in Eastleigh is vigilance and worries about Kenya’s reaction.

Somalis in Kenya worry about their businesses when the final decision is announced by the International Court of Justice.



Kenyan nationals has posted a threat to Somali business owner on social media posting very strongly expressed by the Kenyan people. It said, ”We came to get your Somali businesses and destroy them us Kenyans especially local Eastleigh Somalis have businesses worth billions of dollars.”

This poses a threat to the Somali people who have lived there for the past 30 years, who are unaware of Kenya’s reaction to the maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya.

The maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya is expected to be resolved in the International Court of Justice and it is unpredictable how Kenya will react to the court ruling that Somalia is likely to win. International law and the sea boundary belongs to Somalia.
