Prime Minister Roble says the executive power of the Somali Republic belongs only to the Council of Ministers.
The Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, has issued a statement instructing all government agencies to carry out their duties in accordance with the Provisional Constitution.
The prime minister’s remarks appear to contradict President Farmajo’s decision last night to ban government agencies from entering into any agreements during the election process.
The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, in accordance with Article 103 of the Constitution of the Republic, stated that he and his Cabinet are authorized to carry out their national duties in accordance with the Constitution and to avoid any interruption in the functioning of the government.
In the statement, the Prime Minister defended that negotiations to improve Somalia’s foreign relations are in line with Somalia’s sovereignty and national policy and are a constitutional obligation of the Prime Minister and his Government.
The statement from the president and prime minister comes amid talk of a visit by Kenyan Foreign Minister Raychelle Omamo to Mogadishu.
The Kenyan foreign minister brought the prime minister to Mogadishu at the invitation of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, who invited the prime minister to Kenya.
According to the president’s decision last night from Prime Minister Roble, blocked a agreement or negotiations with Kenya.
