The Somali government’s Ministry of Defense has received a large number of military vehicles from the British government, one of the main donors in Somalia.

The handover ceremony in the capital Mogadishu was also attended by members of the British contingent, the commander of the 60th Division of the Somali National Army and other officials. The vehicles are designed to be used by the Somali National Army in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

The Acting Somali Minister of Defense thanked the UK Government. Said I am grateful to the UK government for providing us with combat vehicles, and for responding to our request to join us in rebuilding our Armed Forces.” said Minister Hassan Ali Mohamed.

The government of Somalia has recently received support from Somalia’s friends, and recently the Turkish government took over the armored vehicles, one of the main supporters of Somalia.
