Chairman of the Somali Electoral Commission Mohamed Hassan Irro said the election is ongoing and will not be stopped by the call from the Somali Candidates’ union. According to sources told Somali Times Mohamed Hassan Irro is related to the mother of the current president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo. This is a wider election rigging Farmajo and his team.

Irro said there was no solution to postpone the election, adding that any concerns over the election could be resolved instead.

The chairman said he welcomes the coming together and consultation on how to move forward, to remove the stigma and hold the elections on time. He said their commission was working on a political agreement that neither side could sow, and called on the Union of Candidates to have confidence in the electoral commission’s efforts.

“It is incumbent on our committees to correct what went wrong. But it requires a multi-faceted partnership,” Irro said. According to sources added Mohamed Irro is a well-known supporter of Farmajo. So far most seats have been rigged by Farmajo and Fahad Yasin.
