Deaths and injuries caused by storms in Jubaland

Jubaland Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources regional says, Mr. Ibrahim Abdi Hassan provided details of casualties from the storm hit the coastal region.

Ibrahim Abdi Hassan told Somali Times that nine fishermen died off the coast of Ras Kamboni in the Lower Jubba region. He also pointed out that 12 others were injured, while 17 boats and their equipment were destroyed, according to the minister. The casualties, in short, are nine deaths, 12 injuries and the destruction of 17 vessels with their equipment unaccounted for today.” he told the Somali Times reporter.



Minister Ibrahim Abdi also underlined that whenever the sixth month of the year, the whole of Somalia is closed. Finally, he called on the Somali people, especially those living along the coast and the fishermen to be more vigilant. Somalia’s Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management recently issued a cyclone warning for the country’s shores.
