Emir of Qatar issues statement on resumption of Somali-Kenyan relations

The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has issued a statement welcoming the resumption of diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya.

The Emir said the decision to restore ties between Somalia and Kenya was a courageous one, and wished the two countries continued co-operation for security and stability.

“I congratulate President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo and President Uhuru Kenyatta on their wise and courageous decision to restore diplomatic relations between Somalia and Kenya. We sincerely wish the two neighboring countries and their people make peace and stability, and I assure Qatar that it will continue to strive for good and peace,” Prince Tamim said in a statement on his Twitter account.
