Ethiopian PM arrives in Kenya for a state visit

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has arrived in Moyale, Kenya on an official visit. Abiy previously announced that the visit will take two days, according to local media in Ethiopia.

Abiy Ahmed will also hold a private meeting in Moyale with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. The two leaders will also cut ties at a checkpoint on the Ethiopian-Kenyan border.

The sources added that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed will visit Kenya, including Lamu County, where the new port, which will connect Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia, is under construction. The two leaders are also expected to discuss issues such as the situation in the Horn of Africa and tensions between Somalia and Kenya.

However, Abiy’s trip to Kenya comes as the Ethiopian government has ended its operation in the Tigray region.
