Former Somali Prime Minister Ali Khalif Galaydh has died in the town of Jigjiga, the Somali government has announced. The announcement was made in a tweet by Somali Ministry of Information spokesman Ismail Mukhtar. No further details were given on the death of Dr Ali Khalif.
Ali Khalif was born in Las Anod around 1941 and died at the age of 78. It is not known what caused the death, but said recent health issues. Ali Khalif previously served as the Prime Minister of the Somali government in 2000, as well as the president of Khatumo State, which was once established in Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions.
