The US and UK carried out 22 airstrikes targeting three Yemeni governorates, including the capital Sanaa, the Yemen-based Houthi group said on Sunday.
The US and British “aggression” targeted the city of Sanaa and its countryside with 17 airstrikes, the Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency reported.
“The US-British aggression also launched two airstrikes on the communications network in the Qaradha area of Haifan district, and launched another raid on the communications network in the Shamir area of Maqbanah district in Taiz governorate,” it said.
Two raids were launched on Al-Har farms in the Abs district of the Hajjah governorate, according to the news agency.
Earlier, the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television reported that the US and UK carried out airstrikes Saturday in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa.
Al-Masirah also quoted an unnamed military source in the Houthi group as saying that “the renewed raids of the American-British aggression are a desperate attempt to prevent Yemen from providing support operations to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.”
There was no immediate comment from the American or British side.
The Yemeni Houthi group has been targeting cargo ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under an Israeli onslaught since Oct. 7.
With tensions escalating due to joint strikes by the US and UK against Houthi targets in Yemen, the group declared that it considered all American and British ships legitimate military targets.
