International Conference Cooperation opens in Mogadishu without federal, state members

Mogadishu, The conference was held before overseas in Europe, including the UK, Belgium and others. The meeting was officially inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled, while the UN envoy for Somalia and the African Union are sitting around him. More than 50 Western governments have been involved in Somalia, and this conference is a priority for Somalia.

Two of Somalia’s Federal State members have reportedly skipped the Somali Partnership Form which is due to kick off in Mogadishu today. The Somali federal government has sent an invitation to Puntland regional president,Mr. Said Abdilahi Deni but said that he will attend the Somali Partnership Form once his Jubaland counterpart is invited to the Forum.

The Jubaland are locked horns after the Somalian govt has refused to recognize the reelection of Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam alias Madobe for his second term. Hirshabelle, the SouthWest and Galmudug leaders are expected to participate the Somali Partnership Form which is open in Mogadishu today.

The federal government withdrew Jubaland’s president from the Somalia Cooperation Conference as the unresolved dispute over the election of Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe’ new president of Jubaland state, which Villa Somalia president farmajo crew claimed, did not recognize. The International Conference on Somalia Cooperation comes at a time when the Puntland government and Villa Somalia has been at odds over the issue, including the election in Jubaland.
