President Farmajo issues statement meeting with the international community

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who received at the State House the Ambassadors and Representatives of the International Community based in Mogadishu, shared the Government’s commitment to holding transparent elections, in line with the Agreement reached on 17 September 2020. The Federal Parliament of Somalia.

The President reported on the progress made in the electoral process, starting with the political agreement between the Federal Government and the State Governments, the approval of the procedures and laws governing the elections, the preparation of the Independent Electoral Commissions and the confirmation of the electoral budget.



“I made a compromise over the implementation of the election process, and it will promote and strengthen, to score the goal of election legislation, and reflecting the Hang process.”

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, commended the Government’s efforts to ensure the conduct of the elections, and stressed the need to move forward with plans to implement the elections. For their part, the International Community Representatives commended the steps taken to implement the electoral process, and expressed their support for the Somali people and government in their efforts to hold inclusive elections.
