Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed hasn’t disclosed in the interview that he sent a warning, which many organizations and countries and government pressure for the election once again slowed down. Ethiopia will not be deterred by foreign plots,” said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Abiy’s comments came as the head of Ethiopia’s electoral commission announced on Saturday that it was “impossible” to hold parliamentary elections scheduled for June 5, without announcing a new election date. When Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed took office three years ago, he promised to overthrow the dictatorship and hold the most democratic elections ever held in the country.

Elections were originally scheduled for August last year and have been postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic, with problems growing since then including fighting in the northern region of Tigray. Voting will not take place in June 5. We cannot say the date as the commission should study the recommendations of the parties, ”said Birtukan Mideksa, chairperson of the Electoral Commission, who declined to say when the election would take place.

Since the postponement of the Ethiopian elections, there has been a growing international outcry that Abiy Ahmed has deviated from his earlier democratic promises, which has led to the prime minister’s resignation today.
