Russia says trilateral drill with China, Iran in Arabian Sea over

Defense Ministry says sailors of 3 countries trained on joint maneuvers, freeing captured vessel with hostages.

Russia on Saturday announced the end of a trilateral navy drill with China and Iran in the Arabian Sea.

The participants on March 16-17 worked out forming an international “squad of ships” in a designated area, and joint maneuvering with different kinds of formations, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.




The Chinese, Iranian and Russian sailors were also trained on situations demanding liberation of a captured vessel with hostages, and providing help to a ship in a difficult situation in open sea.

A total of seven vessels took part in the drill – two from Russia, one from China, and five from Iran.
