Somalia’s Minister of Finance Abdirahman Duale Beyle has acknowledged that the delay in Somalia’s presidential election is a major challenge for the country. In an interview with outlet media, Minister Beyle said Somalia could achieve self-sufficiency, but was confronted by political instability and persistent security threats.

Beyle, said the challenges posed by the delay in the elections are that financial support for Somalia is stagnant.

“Somalia has its own issues and problems. Of course, it is a fragile country, and anything can happen. But I think we all agree that the election is over. The fact that the parliamentary election is “96% complete” means that the first phase of the presidential election is approaching, “said Minister Beyle.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that the World Bank’s financial support for Somalia and debt forgiveness could be suspended within three months if there is a new delay in Somalia’s elections.
