The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, said that Ethiopia has gone the wrong way, and has opened up a part of Somalia’s territory by using the agreement it entered into with the Hargeisa administration.

Minister Fiqi said, “It does not seem to us that Abiy Ahmed will contact the government of Somalia as long as he goes down that dirt road.”

The minister also pointed out that it is not compatible that Ethiopian troops are there to maintain peace in Somalia, while Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is working to violate Somalia’s sovereignty.

“We are still giving Ethiopia the opportunity to withdraw from the agreement, so that the situation can return to the way it was before the first of January this year,” added Minister Fiqi.

However, Turkey, which was the mediator between the two countries, seems to have been unable to negotiate with the two sides, and recently postponed the third round of talks scheduled for Ankara.
