A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia’s heavy fighting on Sunday and Monday in the town of Beled-Hawo in Gedo region the Foreign Ministry was allegedly organized by the Kenyan government.
The statement said that illegal militias armed by the Kenyan government have crossed the border and attacked the Gedo region, especially the Beled-Hawo district.
The ministry praised the Somali National Army for repelling an attack by the Kenyans and militias.
The statement from the Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs appears to be in response to a statement from the Kenyan government describing the fighting as “worrying” for Kenya and calling for an immediate end to the violence.
