Somalia’s Information Minister Osman Abukar Dubbe has denied reports that Somali troops being trained in Eritrea have taken part in fighting in Ethiopia.

The information minister, who held a press conference in response to the government protests in Mogadishu, accused opposition politicians campaigning to spread false information to the public. It’s not the first time we’ve heard this, it’s the ninth or tenth time we’ve heard it. “Every time it is said it is nonsense and it is known to be false, Dubbe said.

Minister Osman Dubbe said that the Somali forces in Eritrea are the same as the other troops in Turkey. He said there was no evidence that Somali forces had captured Tigre or were in Akzum. Dubbe’s remarks come amid a series of protests in Mogadishu today by parents of Eritrean troops undergoing training.
