Somali government officials question by police regarding corruption in Mogadishu port





The commander in chief of the inland tax department General Abdullahi Hassan Barise has provided more details about the detention of more than ten government officials over corruption charges. Several staff members in the Ministry of Finance, including Mr. Ahmed Ali Samow, the managing director of Mogadishu seaport revenue authority arrested on Saturday evening at the CID headquarters.




General Barise said six managers and Assistant Managers at Mogadishu port Customs office are currently under investigation on corruption charges may signal intent to get to the root cause of the problem. Speaking at a press conference in the capital on Sunday, he warned the civil servants against fraud and mismanagement of public funds as the anti-corruption officers are keeping an eye on their work.
