Somali government orders Kenyan ambassador to leave

Somalia’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali Nur recently told state media that Somalia had recalled its ambassador to Kenya, Mohamud Ahmed Nur Tarsan, and informed Kenyan Ambassador Lucas Tumbo to return to his country for consultations.

The Somali government made the decision in defense of its national sovereignty, after it appeared that Kenya was deliberately interfering in Somalia’s internal affairs, particularly in Jubaland.



The Somali government has accused Kenya of pressuring the Jubaland president to pursue its political agenda, undermining Somalia’s political agreement and violating the diplomatic practices of neighboring states.

Finally, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur said, ”The Somali government will never accept any act that undermines its sovereignty and security.
