“For the President of the country to sign an agreement to deport Somalis from Germany, without the government changing the circumstances of the country from which they migrated, and preparing a life plan, job opportunities, and a promising future for them to return, shows the lack of planning and irresponsibility of the government. It is unfortunate that the President of the country does not understand the impact this decision will have on Somali communities living around the world,” said Khaire.

Hassan Ali Khaire also said that this decision could affect Somali communities living abroad, which will be an additional challenge.

He also accused the federal government of misunderstanding the agreement, and advised it to first come up with a plan to address the circumstances in the country, which has led to the exodus of many young Somalis.

It is unfortunate that in the past three years, young Somalis who studied in the country and trained in the country’s institutions have been fleeing the country. These young people and other Somalis in the diaspora did not leave the country out of love for foreign countries, but were forced to do so by the circumstances in our country.

The government leaders have a national responsibility to change the difficult circumstances that have caused our people to be refugees in the diaspora, and to create hope and a bright future for the Somali people, encouraging people living in the country to remain in their homeland, and to be able to support the Somali diaspora scattered around the world.

For the President of the country to sign an agreement to deport Somalis from Germany, without the government changing the circumstances of the country from which they migrated, and not preparing a life plan, job opportunities, and a promising future for them to return to, shows the lack of planning and irresponsibility of the government. It is unfortunate that the President of the country does not understand the impact this decision will have on Somali communities living around the world.

I call on the national leaders to first prepare a national plan to create life opportunities and jobs for the youth living in the country, and to find a lasting solution for the youth who continue to migrate from the country, before taking steps to repatriate Somalis living abroad.
