Somalia’s Attorney General, Dr. Suleiman Mohamed Mohamoud has said that the government will seize the ships that are exploiting the resources in Somalia’s seas.
The prosecutor said the government is stepping up efforts to combat illegal fishing, which he described as a national disaster that needs to be addressed.
“Illegal fishing in Somalia is one of the major catastrophes in Somalia’s resources, and it is the biggest,” the prosecutor said.
The prosecutor made the remarks as he welcomed government officials trained to tackle illegal fishing off the coast of Somalia. He called on the navy’s attorney general to arrest vessels fishing illegally off the coast of Somalia.
