Somalia seizes fishing vessel of Qandala coast

The Somalia, the maritime Police Force has seized an illegal fishing vessel off the coast of Qandala district in Bari region. A Puntland naval official, Mohamed Ahmed Afis, told Somali Times that the navy captured the ship coast of Qandala on the 19th of this month. The official said the ship was carrying ten crew members and had no resistance when apprehended.




The vessel has no fishing licenses of the coast of Somalia and is part of hundreds of vessels plying Somalia’s marine resources on a daily basis. Earlier this year, Puntland authorities seized ten boats and their crews fishing illegally off the coast of Puntland.

The official also said that the men on board the captured ship were 10 men and that the report of the ship was submitted to the Puntland Naval Command. In March this year, Puntland naval forces seized 10 boats and their crews, which were fishing illegally in Somali waters, from Yemen.
