The governors of the regional states have announced that they will convene on Tuesday next week in Garowe. The state leaders conference will be held in Puntland, Jubaland, Galmudug, HirShabelle and Southwest. Reabsorption of election and the general situation in Somalia will continue for 21 to 24 September.

However, the Garowe conference did not invite Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, who is the top leader in the electoral and security process and was suspended his powers by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo. This special meeting of state leaders, including the National Consultative Council, was held.

The states hold the elections alone. No one needs foreign actors ally Prime Minister Roble. Puntland and Jubaland states’ position is clear, not supported in leadership elections and security behind the Prime Minister.

He also stressed that state leaders are members of the National Consultative Council, led by Prime Minister Roble, and that the issue of elections should be decided by that council alone.

”The National Consultative Assembly should convene immediately, and the suspended Prime Minister should not be in the conference.”
