Somalia Puntland Governor Said Abdullahi Deni has left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday for an unannounced visit.

The purpose of Puppet Said Deni’s trip is unknown, but it comes at a time when the country is in an election, with Mr. Deni considered one of the aspiring politicians for the presidency of Somalia.

According to our sources, Governor Said Deni’s visit is related to talks with DP-World officials who control the port of Bosaso. DP-World, which has not done much for Bosaso’s port since its transfer in April 2017, is now on the verge of withdrawing from its contract with Puntland.

Governor Deni is expected to address the Puntland parliament, which opens on May 25, with a report on the DP-World agreement and the company’s promise to begin renovating the port as soon as possible.

Some members of the Puntland parliament have previously called for the DP-World agreement to be canceled and for the port to be returned to Puntland.

The UAE supports the salaries and training of the Puntland Maritime Police Force. UAE also supported all militias in Somalia to destabilize and destruction.
