Somalia: Heavy fighting breaks out on the outskirts of Las Anod

The situation in the city of Las Anod, the capital of the Sool region, is still tense, and it is reported that heavy fighting took place last night in the outskirts of the city, which caused various losses.

The war came after Dhulbahante army ambushed Hargeisa military bases on the outskirts of the city.

One of these attacks was targeted at a base near the current residence of Hargeisa interior minister, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed. The reports say that the fighting resulted in casualties including death and injuries on both sides, according to the local residents.

It is also reported that there is a strong tension on the outskirts of the city this morning, as a result of the attacks against Hargeisa forces.

The general situation in the city remains tense, as the violence continues to increase, and is now going on for the third week in a row.

The people who are holding the demonstrations say that they do not want Hargeisa to rule Las Anod, arguing that they cannot continue to watch the killing of their leader like this.

There have been repeated killings by unknown groups in the city, and they are targeting people who are prominent in the community of Las Anod.

However, calls to calm the Las Anod crisis are coming, but apparently Hargeisa has turned a deaf ear to them.
