The headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the federal government of Somalia has been cut off, as revealed today by MP Aweys Mohamed Omar, a member of the Somali People’s Assembly.

The MP who was speaking in the House of Representatives earlier today said that last week the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was completely cut off from electricity, after the ministry did not pay the electricity bills, as he said.

The reason he said is that the budget received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is small and he pointed out that it is not enough.
“Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was cut off, so they don’t get a budget,” said MP Aweys Mohamed.
The MP, who is also a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a smaller budget than other ministries in the country, pointing out that it receives 9 million while others receive about 18 million.

He also added that there is a need to do something about this, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the mirror of the country.
“This ministry is the mirror of the country and the budget is like that while other ministries that do not travel have a budget of 18 million dollar and this is 9 million. Why do they have a solution?” MP Aweys continued his speech.
This statement comes as there has been a lot of talk about the power cut from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and people have raised questions about the lack of electricity in one of the most important ministries of the government.
