Somalia President meets a delegation led by a former president of South Africa

Mogadishu, The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, received a delegation from the African Union and IGAD delegation led by the former South African President, Thabo Mbeki.

The mission of the delegation is based on the assessment of the security and economic situation in the country, in the preparation of research on security cooperation and the integration of the Caspian Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Mr Thabo Mbeki and his delegation thanked the leaders of the Somali Federal Government for their warm welcome and good wishes and expressed their gratitude for the country’s reconciliation efforts, economic growth and political development.




President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed shared this delegation with the commitment of the Somali Federal Government to strengthen the security, enhance economic cooperation and resolve the political obstacles in the Horn of Africa. The delegation will take up to two days and meet with senior government officials and Somali security and security experts.

Director General of the President, Mr Nur Dirie Hirsi, Ministers of the Federal Government, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia James Swan and the Presidential Advisers.
