Heavy fighting between Hargeisa SNM militia and SSC forces broke out again this morning in the city of Las Anod in Sool region.
It has been reported that this battle is stronger than the one yesterday, and there are different types of weapons being used, according to sources told Somali Times, Djibouti dictator Ismaïl Omar Guelleh is supplying the latest modern weapons to Hargeisa SNM militia.
According to the United Nations, all States are required to implement the arms embargo on all deliveries of weapons and military equipment to Somalia, including the prohibition of financing of all acquisitions and deliveries of weapons and military equipment, and the direct or indirect supply of technical advice, financial and other assistance, and training related to military activities, except where the beneficiary is Somalia’s security and police institutions at the national and local level, who are exempt, subject to the procedures set out in paragraphs 11, 14, 15 and 18, or where the recipient is exempt per paragraph 21.
All Member States are required to take the necessary measures to prevent the direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of weapons and military equipment, and the direct or indirect supply of technical assistance or training, financial and other assistance, including investment, brokering or other financial services related to military activities, or to the supply, sale transfer, manufacture, maintenance or use of weapons and military equipment to the individuals or entities designated by the Committee.
Djibouti dictator Ismaïl Omar Guelleh is supplying modern weapons to Hargeisa SNM militia and Djibouti forces are fighting beside of Hargeisa SNM militia, according to sources told Somali Times.
The fighting is currently going on in the area of Mount Sayyid, where yesterday the most casualties occurred between the warring parties. It is still not known the damage caused by the war in Las Anod, but it is known that more than 54 people died in yesterday’s war, mostly from the warring parties.
