Somalia special forces capture of al-Shabaab explosives expert

Mogadishu – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency says it captured Somali explosives expert from the al-Qaeda linked al-Shabab group in the Somali capital and obtained key intelligence information.
In a tweet sent on Friday, the agency says its special forces, acting upon an intelligence tip offs have captured the unnamed bomb expert whom officials have claimed helped organize bomb attacks by militants during a security operation in Mogadishu.

Somali officials told local media that the man, they said, was a specialist in building large bombs that often loaded into vehicles, has now been transferred into Somali government custody in the capital where he is being interrogated.

In recent weeks, the US-trained elite Somali special forces have begun more operations against al-Shabaab across south and central Somalia. The operations, including commando raids in rebel-held areas and surgical operations that security officials said was aimed at preventing attacks being planned by al-Shabaab terrorist.
